LOWRIDER MAGAZINE SUPER SHOW – LAS VEGAS
The Lowrider Magazine super show has been packing a full house for the past few decades and it has become a historical part of car culture with deep seated roots. Sure you had your R.G. Canning attractions back in the day (which were some kick ass shows as well) but they’ve since moved on to do flea markets – so if I’m not mistaken that leaves Lowrider Magazine with the title of having the longest running car show which is still active today. Now there’s no denying that the Lowrider show circuit has seen some tough times but that doesn’t change the fact that they’ve always stayed true to the essence and culture of lowriding. They never switched gears and jumped on the bandwagon of new trends and they’ve kept it real.
From Lowrider bikes to full radicals and complete restorations the show had to plenty to offer.
One of the most interesting parts of the show has to be the setup and prep.
If you truly want to experience a Lowrider Show you have to come a day prior and watch as everyone rolls in to sets up their lowriders. The setup time for these cars is flat out extreme and whereas other cars might take about an hour to simply park and detail, it’s safe to say that this is NOT the case with lowriders. On average, it took anywhere from three to six hours to get everything setup and detailed, and for others it was easily an eight to nine hour day. From assembling custom built stands all the way to putting cars on rotating tables, it was definitely a site to see.
Just to witness the ritual of setting these lowriders up is enough to earn a new respect and appreciation from any newbie to the show and the friendly competition and camaraderie were enough to truly set them apart from and any other car builders. Simply put, these cars are all about heart, art, culture and history.
South Side Car Club brought out a million dollar fleet of convertibles.
It was interesting to see how the styles changed from State to State. Texas brought out some really way out builds and regardless if you liked their style or not it was safe to say that it earned respect simply because of the time, money and heart put into it.
Lowriding is not a crime.
Random flick of South Sides line up. More pics to come later…..sorry I got sh*t to do. Thanks for checking in.
