As slick as they come and a real OG with poise.
After editing two more shoots and polishing up a phone interview with Omar over in Dubai, it was time to head to Hollywood to get down to business with Mark Mahoney – one of the living legends in the tattoo game. If you know of Mark Mahoney then you already know he rarely does interviews and is a really private person but he opened up his doors for a photoshoot with Lowrider Arte – a mag which I helped revamp – and he’s got a lot to share. Thanks for the hookup P.
Mark is considered one of the forefathers of black and grey tattoos and he’s an artist that has helped change – and advance – the game. He’s mentored some of the tattoo industries biggest names and far before tattoos were cool and easily removed, he had amassed a cult following amongst hood stars and Hollywood legends. The entry way to his world famous tattoo shop, the Shamrock Social Club, has become a legendary landmark and they’ve inked everyone from Brad and Angelina, Mickey Rourke all the way to Notorious B.I.G. and Redman. Look for his story in an upcoming issue of Lowrider Arte.
Tom – aka the Crazy Fast Cracker – was back in the building with his old school whip posted up front.
Mark scoping out the piece we did on his boy Patrick in Heavy Hitters.
Saw this posted up on a parking meter a block away. LOL..it’s a trip to see HH stickers – especially when we weren’t the ones that threw ‘em up.
Check out this piece posted up in Mark Mahoney’s office.
A view of from his office.
A few essentials of the trade.
After the shoot: Astro Burger’s world famous and monster chicken quesadilla.
